In Largo do Carmo, there is a doorway that has remained open for more than a century: one of Lisbon’s most emblematic shoe shops.
Since 1904, Sapataria do Carmo has been more than a historic shoe shop. It has become a point of reference in the city for those looking for Portuguese shoes in Lisbon. A place where Lisbon steps in, and somehow stays.
It's like entering a place where time slows down: the furniture tells stories, the space holds memories, and the service continues to be delivered as it always has been: with attention. Between those who visit us and those who return, something rare is built: relationships.
Today, the shop remains exactly that: a place to enter without hurry and to choose with time.

Sapataria do Carmo No. 27
Shop next door to no. 26
Right next to the historical shop, there is a second door that extends the main store.
In 2012, number 27 was given new life. Formerly a neighbourhood barbershop and, later, a support space for the historical shop, it gradually became a natural continuation of the historical shop.
The house's language remains. The boxes, so typical of Sapataria do Carmo, return at number 27 with the same symmetrical harmony, in a contemporary register.
The shoe shop next door now houses the permanent collection of women's classics and, since 2024, has also become the main stage for Isaga, a brand of Portuguese handbags born within Sapataria do Carmo.
If number 26 holds the origin, number 27 shows how that story knew how to grow without departing from itself, maintaining the same way of being.

Sapataria do Carmo - Rua do Carmo, 89
At Rua do Carmo 89, just a few steps from the mother store, there's a new door where the history of Sapataria do Carmo continues.
In 2017, the acquisition of a small chain of shoe stores made it possible to open this new space in Chiado and also bring the brand to Funchal.
Since then, this store is not just another address. It is a faithful continuation of the identity that, since 1904, has defined Sapataria do Carmo: Portuguese shoes, genuine materials, and attention to detail.
It's like entering a space where the brand naturally extends. The Isaga brand - Portuguese leather bags - is also present.
